Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt was confirmed as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Friday, his nomination approved by approved with a 52-46 vote.

Here's what you need to know about the next head of the EPA:
- Pruitt is a vocal climate skeptic who has questioned whether human activity is causing global warming.
- As Oklahoma's attorney general, Pruitt repeatedly sued the EPA over "politically motivated" environmental regulations.
- Oil and gas companies contributed more than $215,000 to Pruitt's 2010 and 2014 campaigns, according to an investigation by The New York Times.
- Pruitt will now be responsible for shaping the federal government's environmental agenda.
