Here's How Men Reacted When This Woman Asked Them If They'd Give Up Their Civil Rights

A tweet by Brianna Wu, video game developer and computer programmer who is running for Congress, explored the idea of having to compromise something for the sake of your political party — and why some things can't be compromised.

Wu asked her male Twitter followers a question on Monday:

It also somehow spurned a discussion on guns:

As some theorized in the thread, Wu's tweet may have been prompted by the latest statement from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) on anti-abortion funding.

On Monday, Rep. Ben Ray Lujan (D-N.M.), the DCCC chariman, told The Hill that financial support would not necessarily be withheld from anti-abortion candidates. As Lujan said, "there is not a litmus test for Democratic candidates. As we look at candidates across the country, you need to make sure you have candidates that fit the district, that can win in these districts across America."

Some found this position strange, while others saw it as unacceptable.

Journalist Lauren Duca wrote that the "strategy" to compromise on abortion doesn't ultimately benefit people overall.

And as Wu's tweet points out, it's not men who are being asked to sacrifice in order to "win."

Which others picked up on:

It's a thorny issue that is likely the start of a greater battle. Perhaps we should consider this man's take:
