Federica Bertocchini, researcher at The Spanish National Research Council, describes how caterpillars can biodegrade polyethylene, which is the plastic in plastic bottles and trash bags. Certain species of mealworms, bacteria and fungi can also eat plastic to prevent it from polluting our environment and oceans.
