Pope Francis Invites Bernie Sanders to the Vatican

April 8th 2016

Pope Francis extended an invitation to Sen. Bernie Sanders, and next week, the Democratic presidential hopeful will be speaking with the leader of the Roman Catholic Church at the Vatican.

"I was very moved by the invitation, which just was made public today," Sanders said in an interview with MSNBC early Friday. "I am a big, big fan of the Pope."

And although Sanders, who is looking to become the first Jewish president of the United States, doesn't agree with the leader of the Roman Catholic Church on everything, including women's and LGBT rights, the two leaders do agree on one thing: fighting against the worship of money and greed. The two plan to talk about morality in economics.

"People think Bernie Sanders is radical, read what the Pope is saying," Sanders said.
