Despite America's renewed outcry against gun violence, U.S. Senators on Monday failed to pass four amendments that would have tightened the country's firearm regulations.

In the wake of the Pulse nightclub mass shooting that left 50 people dead, politicians drafted measures to curb gun violence including: increasing national background checks, closing the gun show loophole, and creating "a judicial review process to keep a person on a terror watch list from buying a gun," according to USA Today.
After the Senate failed to pass these proposals on Monday afternoon, online conversation was dominated by allegations of outsize influence by gun lobbyists.
